What is a Doula?
A doula is a professional labor support person who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the laboring woman and her partner. A labor doula assists the laboring mom and her partner in achieving a positive birth experience. Having a doula-assisted birth has been shown to result in shorter labors, lower the use of medicinal pain relief and epidurals, and also lower the incidence of medical interventions.
Our practice is committed to supporting women in achieving a positive, fulfilling, supported birth experience! Because we are so passionate about this cause, we now have a labor doula available for hire to all of our patients who may desire one. Hiring a labor doula can be very beneficial!
